SHIRLEY MARIE ANN (HERVI) PASO
January 2, 1944 ~ August 4, 2017

Shirley Marie Ann Paso, age 73, slipped peacefully from time into eternity on the 4th of August, 2017. She had battled cancer and its surrounding effects for many months- with strength as it was given, a courageous smile, and an accepting heart.
Shirley was born to Vaino and Violet Hervi on January 2, 1944 in the Gackle, North Dakota area. She graduated from Gackle High School in 1962. She worked in a special education facility in the Jamestown, ND area until she moved west to Clark County, WA in 1963, and remained there for the duration of her years. She married her husband Joel of 51 years in October of 1965. Together they raised their family of 7, and she was a wonderful care-taker to all of them.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Marvin; daughter-in-law, Wendy; and an infant grandson.
She is survived by her husband, Joel; sons, Alan with Julie, Donald with Sharla, John with Joan and James with Melissa; daughters, Donna with John Redinger and Anita, all of Clark County, WA; and daughter, Alaine with Anthony Hummel of Lake Norden, SD; 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Shirley was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, a precious and simple faith that she was ever thankful for. She had unending amounts of love for her husband, family, and scores of Christian friends of all ages, near and far. She thoroughly enjoyed many years of hosting and entertaining her family and friends, and also traveling to be with them. She found joy and gratitude in even the smallest of things.
The funeral services plan to be held at 1p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Brush Prairie, 16603 NE 142nd Ave., Brush Prairie, WA, with viewing also at the church the (Sunday) evening before from 6:30-8:00p.m. All are welcome.
