RON HAMILTON
August 24, 1948 ˜ December 23, 2019

Ron Hamilton of Vancouver, WA, passed peacefully on Dec. 23, 2019, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Berkeley, CA, and grew up in nearby Danville, CA.
Ron met the love of his life in the summer of 1972 at Crater Lake; he and Robin Coon married just months later Nov. 4, 1972.
Ron graduated from Oregon Technical Institute and San Jose State University and went on to work for 29 years as a National Accounts Underwriter for Standard Insurance Company, retiring in 2006.
He was a dedicated volunteer of 28 years for the Stepping Stones program through PeaceHealth Hospice, helping grieving children after the loss of a loved one. Ron is survived by his wife, Robin Hamilton; and daughter and son-in-law, Maggie and Patrick Julian.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mollie Hamilton; sister, Sue Renz; and his parents, William and Helen Hamilton.

Ron was one of my favorite people at Crater Lake Lodge that summer of 1972 working together at the Wineglass. He and I and two others shared a tiny bunk room on the top floor of the lodge looking out over the lake. I was ever grateful for his generosity in loaning me his car to get away for a few hours from our 7-days-a-week work schedule. He and Robin were a big part of what made that summer enjoyable.

I feel blessed to have known Ron and Robin for over 45 years. Ron was one of those people who always managed to put people at ease, and after a conversation with him, you would always be in a better place. And how blessed he was to have Robin and Maggie in his life. I will miss him.

Ron and I met at Standard Insurance Company in 1977 and became good friends. We both had a passion for steelhead fishing which we did together every weekend. Ron also enjoyed maintaining and manicuring his yard and working around the house. A group of us would have lunch together at Standard and were known as the "lunch bunch". We always enjoyed listening to Ron talk about such things like how he would trim the grass with scissors and meticulously paint his house with a one inch brush. Ron had a great sense of humor and was a joy to be around. He was one of the most friendly people I know. Ron, you will be missed by all who knew you.

Ron was one of the first people I met at the Firstenburg community center. He trained me on as a weight room attendant in the fitness and passed down so much knowledge to me from him being a personal trainer. We worked together for several years. Ron was a fun guy to be around and very personable. His unique personality brought joy to so many including myself. I am going to miss him calling me bubba and saying hey guy. Ron definitely made an impression on my life.

I first met Ron when he came to work at Standard. Had to have been around 1978. We both moved on to Underwriting several years later. We had a pretty tight group both inside and outside of work for many years. As time went by we sort of drifted in different professional directions, but we always stayed friends.

Ron and I shared a love of 60's rock music. Having grown up in the Bay Area, he always had a leg up on me when it came to seeing those great San Francisco bands. Rampant jealously ensued.

Ron always called me Davy. No one else was ever allowed to do that. He was a good guy.
