ROBERT "UNCLE ROB" WILLIAM THEISEN
December 20, 1976 ~ August 10, 2016
Robert William Theisen "Uncle Rob", joined his Grandparents in heaven on August 10, 2016, at the age of 39. Rob was born December 20, 1976, in Vancouver, Washington to George and Venita Theisen. He joined a group of rambunctious siblings who couldn't wait to break him in as the youngest of six at that time. He was grateful for the addition of Elizabeth, who replaced him as the youngest.
Rob graduated from Prairie High School in 1995, but continued his love of learning at Clark College, in drug and alcohol counseling. He used his desire to help people as a counselor of young, troubled youth. He also studied weather, a fascination of his from very early in life. He was a member of the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network, a world-wide organization of volunteers who track local precipitation conditions. The Columbian interviewed Rob last week to learn more about this group.
Rob's love of children was particularly evident when he shared time with nieces and nephews (Michael, Claire, Ian, Michelle, Logan, Zachary, Emma, and Jamison), helping them climb trees, teaching them to ride bikes, and making sure they had the best snacks in the house. They adored him as well and will miss his lessons and devotion.
Rob was at home in wild places, particularly elk camp by Trout Lake, Washington. He loved hunting, fishing, hiking, and trying to find the area's best firewood. He also enjoyed gardening, raising tropical fish, and had an amazing collection of Cacti. Rob's big heart also led him to provide unwanted dogs with a loving home and a warm, soft bed next to him. When not helping take care of the family property, he was an avid Mariners and Seahawks fan.
Rob is survived by his parents, George and Venita, of Battle Ground; siblings, Skip (Darla) and Steve (Stacey) of Fairbanks, AK, Mike (Ann) of Heppner, OR, Tim (Shawna) of Sparks, NV, Mary (John) and Liz of Vancouver, WA, and 8 nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Rob's life will be held at St. John Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016.
