Robert Voller Obituary

ROBERT "BOB" VOLLER
April 5, 1934 ~ June 25, 2015

Robert "Bob" Voller passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 25, 2016, in Vancouver, Washington. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, father-in-law, neighbor and friend.
He was born in Reeder, North Dakota on April 5, 1934 and grew up in Yakima, Washington where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Tudy.
Bob and Tudy lived in Pullman Washington while Bob attended WSU. He graduated in 1957 with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Together, they lived in Pennsylvania and California before settling in Vancouver in 1966 where they raised their family.
Bob worked as an Electrical Engineer for ALCOA and Vanalco Aluminum Smelter before retiring in 1999. He was a lifetime Member of IEEE, a professional Engineering Society, and was elected The Industry Applications Society President in 1987 as well as holding other various Board and Member Positions. Through IEEE Bob and Tudy travelled to many wonderful places and made lifelong IEEE friends.
Bob joined the US Army Reserve in 1954 as a commissioned officer and obtained the rank of Captain. He was briefly called to active duty as a result of the Cuban Missile Crisis, and was honorably discharged in 1969.
Being an engineer, he was extremely organized and creative; he could design, fix or build anything! He loved fishing and spent many wonderful times in the San Juan Islands on his Chris-Craft Boat. He named his boat "Fishin' Frolic", Mom named it, "That Damn Boat".
In his retirement years, dad expanded his artistic side and designed beautiful metal sculptures, wooden bowls and vases, and had recently begun painting.
He was very active in the Cedar Heights Condominium community and had many dear friends and neighbors. He always looked forward to his weekly lunch with his retired Engineering Buddies and his Sunday Breakfasts with "The Gang."
Bob was preceded in death by Tudy, his beloved wife of 61 years and his grandson Robert Sheldon. He is survived by his children, Kenneth Voller (Penny), David Voller, Janet Kubicsek (Richard), and Lynda Simonton (Dale); grandchildren, Jeff Sheldon, Erik Kubicsek, Mathew Simonton, and Kylie Simonton, and his sister Jane Voller.
There will be a private family interment followed by a Celebration of Life Open House on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Cedar Heights Condominium Clubhouse in Vancouver.
Bob and Tudy were longtime supporters of the local Humane Society. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in their name to the SW Washington Humane Society 1100 NE 192nd Avenue, Vancouver, Washington, 98684. SouthWestHumane.org
