ROBERT C. BARBER
March 18, 1925 ~ April 10, 2013
"Bob will be remembered as a proud, determined man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends."

Robert Carl Barber died April 10, 2013 in Vancouver, WA at the age of 88. He was born March 18, 1925 in Talent, OR and grew up on Prune Hill in Camas, WA. He attended Grass Valley School and Camas High School where he was on the boxing and baseball teams.
After graduating in 1943, Bob served in the Navy and later joined the Merchant Marines.
Upon returning home from the war, Bob married Shirley Cochran and they began to raise their family.
Bob was a member of the UA Local 235/290 Pipefitter's Union for 63 years.
In his spare time he bought and sold real estate property, built seven new homes for his family and remodeled many others.
After retiring, Bob became an avid golfer and RVer, enjoying life as a "snowbird." He towed his 5th wheel to Cabo San Lucas and also through Mexico into the Yucatan Peninsula.
Bob is survived by special companion, Gwen Krawsky, of Vancouver; sons, Mike (Betty) of Battle Ground, WA, Chuck (Betty Lou) of Washougal, WA, Russ (Lynn) of Camas, WA; brother, Rodger (Betty) of Woodburn, OR; sister, Carol of Gig Harbor, WA; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family would also like to send their appreciation to the staffs at Mt. View House in Camas and Glenwood Place in Vancouver for the wonderful care they gave Bob.
There will be a gathering at Chuck Barber's home in Washougal on Sat., May 25th beginning at 2:00 p.m., a Eulogy at 3:00 p.m., and followed by an "Old English Style Wake" until the "last dog is hung." Family and friends are welcome.

I so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a real character and was always good for a laugh at the bowling alley or in the golf course.

Dearest Chuck, Sis and family.... Bob will certainly be missed. What a colorful and always surprising man he was. Ya just never knew what he was "bringing to the table." The stories you have from him, about him, his adventures and escapades will go on for years to come, and, they are priceless. He will be missed by so many and always remembered. Our love and hugs to the close and extended Barber family. PS, in his memory, something he told us.... "Yes, it was a par three, and even though I hit the ball five times, I still made par. Two of them didn't count. Really, they didn't count." Classic Bob. Gotta love him.
