Rachael Friesen Obituary

RACHAEL (LOEHR) FRIESEN
May 19, 1981 ~ July 5, 2014

Rachael (Loehr) Friesen, 33, of Vancouver, WA, passed away on July 5, 2014 after complications from an unsuccessful heart and liver transplant.
Born on May 19th, 1981, Rachael underwent her first surgery at just one day old, and faced many more over the course of her life.
Each new challenge was met with courage
and a deep faith that God had a plan for her life.
Despite the weakness of her physical heart, Rachael's spiritual heart was powerful. It beat for her mother Carol and her father Jeff, her sister Shannon, and brother Sean. Rachael's heart beat for her nieces and nephews who she adored.
It beat for animals. For her beloved cat Oreo and her little dog Lilly-bear. It beat for beautiful clothes and flashy shoes.
Rachael's heart beat for her God. She traveled the globe on service missions with YWAM and was active at Summit View, her home church.
It beat for her friends who kept vigil as she fought her last battle.
Rachael's heart beat for her husband, Daniel, who she loved ferociously for eight wonderful years.
Rachael's heart will continue to beat in the lives of those she touched. And though we are all saddened by her death, we know a reunion is coming.

My thoughts have been with all of Rachel's family and friends these last weeks. I was so excited to hear that Rachel's long wait was over for a new heart. Then, my eyes filled with tears when I heard that she was gone. Dan, you are an awesome husband, friend, and advocate. I will miss her smile.

Rachel was an example of courage in adversity, even as she faced. A battle that she knew she might not win. She gave her best at all times, and her faith in God was unshakable. She left this legacy for all of us to follow.

I never knew you but I have seen the love and devotion of those who knew you best. And I understand what a God-loving person you were to be so loved by them. I wish I could have known you while you were here but like your family and beloved friends, I too look forward to seeing you in the Life that is sure to come.

Dan I am so sorry for your loss. I am also sorry I was not there to celebrate your wife's life. I remember how she was always so friendly ever time I would come across her and your story together touched many lives to all of us at SV. She will be sorely missed and there will always be a part of her that lives in all of us. I will be praying for you in this tough time of your life. But be comforted in knowing you will see her again someday. Dan if you ever need anything, please let me know. I love you man.

My husband and I lost one daughter, almost three years ago, and another daughter a year and four mos. later. Our heart goes out to you for your loss; we truly know the grief and the joy you are experiencing. Our girls are now with the Savior they both loved with all of their hearts, just as your Rachael did. Our grief is but for a short time, but joy truly does "come in the morning" as promised in Scriptures. We know we will be re-united with these girls, but still our hearts ache with wishing they were still here to share our days with. God's timing is perfect, and we know that, so therefore "be ye not dismayed" for all is in His hands. We grieve for your loss, with you. In His love, Al and Jan Hedum
