Patrick "Pat" David Binder was diagnosed with gall bladder cancer after an operation June 12, 2013. He lost his battle with cancer on April 28, 2014, passing away at home in Amboy, WA. Pat was born in Coquille, OR, to George and Freda Baker, and at three days old was adopted by George and Orpha Binder. He was raised in Elkton, Cottage Grove, OR, and Orick, CA, where his father, George Binder, owned a small logging company.
Pat enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17 and served with the 82nd Airborne, 501st Infantry.
He worked for several logging companies in Oregon, California and Washington.
Pat met and married his current wife, LaVetta Nelson, October 10, 1987, and lived in Vancouver and Amboy, WA. He left his logging employment in the late 1990's.
Pat was active in Amboy Baptist Church and a member of Battle Ground Baptist Church at time of his death.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and developing his five acres in Amboy.
Pat is survived by his wife, LaVetta Nelson Binder; his daughter, Loretta Buice; one niece and three nephews in Oregon; five birth brothers; and one sister.
He was preceded in death by three infant sons; both sets of parents; a brother; and two sisters.
A celebration of Pat's life will be at Battle Ground Baptist Church, 1110 NW 6th Ave., on May 16, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. Private burial entrusted to Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
