Nancy Hartschuh Obituary

NANCY HARTSCHUH
May 11, 1940 ~ May 2, 2011

Our Mom died peacefully, pain free and at home surrounded by her family which was her wish. She was the first born of four in Barberton, OH to Paul and Vera Whitman.
Nancy moved to Washington state from Texas in 2005 with her husband of 53 years Harley.
She will be greatly missed by numerous friends and family from Pennsylvania to Texas to Washington state. She left behind some wonderful memories and even more wonderful people; her husband, Harley of Ridgefield, WA; two brothers, Jack and wife, Milta and Jim and wife, Vicki; son, Jeff and wife, Sylvia, granddaughter, Allison, grandson, Chris and wife, Roxie, and great-grandson, Gabe; son, Danny and wife, Angela, granddaughter, Kelli and husband, R.J., and grandson Matt, all from Texas. Left locally are daughter, Angel and husband, Ben, granddaughters, Rebekah, Samantha, Carmen and Paige and grandson, Calvin, all of Ridgefield, WA; and her very special friend, Judy, from Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Pat; and infant son, Jason.
Mom didn't want a funeral, her wishes are to be cremated and laid to rest in the Gulf of Mexico. This will be followed by a great big Texas BBQ, iced diet coke and her favorite rock n' roll music played really loud.
She was a member of Battle Ground United Methodist Church and in lieu of flowers, we are asking donations in her name be sent to the church: BGUMC, 10300 NE 199th St., Battle Ground, WA 98604.
Rest in peace Mom, we love and miss you and
know you will be watching over us. Until we meet again...

I was greatly saddened to hear about Nancy and am so sorry I lost contact with everyone. Your family took us in, many years ago when we moved to Texas until we got on out feet enough to get an apartment. Nancy was so gracious and good to us, as well as your entire family. I will never forget her kindness and caring. My heart and prayers are with you.

To my sweet and funny Aunt Nancy....God has another angel.....I have wonderful memories and pics of our visits to Texas. . . packing Lauri, me, Jeff, Danny, Mom, Uncle Harley and Aunt Nancy in the car to go to the Gulf. I remember picnics on the way and getting stung by a jellyfish .... and Uncle Harley telling us it wasn't THAT hot....and Aunt Nancy just shaking her head....a special lady....

Your mom was my angel when I was principal at St. Pius V. She was a good friend and a wonderful secretary. I often think about her and our times together. We once spent the night in the school because we thought someone was breaking into the gym and we were determined to catch him. We had many good times and many laughs. I know you will miss her. Please know that the whole family is in my prayers.

Well Mom today is Mother's Day and it has been a tough one for me and Dad. We are constantly reminded of you and miss you terribly. I hope you are having a wonderful time in Heaven with Aunt Pat, Aunt Nancy, Grandma, Grandpa, Robby, Aunt Vickie and Aunt Ruby. I know you will be watching over us. We have had a tremendous outpouring of support, sympathy and food. The girls ask about you daily. I still want to walk down the hall to your room to check on you but it isn't the same. I want to thank you Mom for your love, support and strength you have shown me over the years. I love you and miss you Mom. Happy Mother's Day!!!

I remember the Christmas parties the most. The time when all the family got together and celebrated and ate. I miss seeing everyone, and at the reunion it was like old times again. Nancy and I had a closeness that will not be lost in any way. She will be in my prayers and dreams. I'm glad that she is with her sister and is at peace.
I miss all of the family and you are all on my mind. I love all of you.

Though we were separated by miles, and lost time, I have so many memories of my trip to TX as a teenager. Riding in what Uncle Harley referred to as his car...in 100+ degree heat, Jeff, Dan and me packed into the back seat, with no air conditioning! The trip to the Astro Park and the ride on the Cyclone, Jeff's face...priceless. But the best memory was the look on Aunt Nancy's face when she found her little Angel and I playing with the dolls she had yet to touch or play with. She was so happy.Rest peacefully Aunt Nancy..and to the family, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Lauri and Tim

The little bit of time I spent around Danny's Mom didn't afford us the time to get to know each other very well, but I know she is a Christian woman who loved her family and produced a child that has been more of a brother to me than a friend. That fact means she did a great job as a mother and she deserves the rest she now has with Jesus. God Bless her and the entire Hartschuh family!

When I first met Nancy she was like an old friend I'd had for years. We seemed to have a connection and one of them was about the age her mother died and the age my brother died. We both felt like we were going to die at the same age as our relatives. When the age came and went we both let out a sigh of relief but we knew what the other was feeling. Rest in peace Nancy, my dear friend. You will be missed and thought of. Love you and your family. Harley, Angel and all, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Love you.

Nancy was such a dear Friend to us during the time that we have come to know & love her. We have known Her for over 40yrs. & it has really been a blessing to call her "Our Friend". She will be greatly missed, but now she is at peace. I know the Angels are rejoicing for her now that she is Home. May God Bless & Comfort all of the Family during this time. May God Bless each one of you.

I could go on for pages on how much Grandma meant to me. She cultivated my love for all things rock and roll, my addiction to Dr. Pepper ;o), and most of all my sense of individuality. One of the things she said that I keep near and dear to my heart was, "Chris, I will love you no matter what. I don't care what you say or what you do, remember that I will always love you."

Rest in Peace to the lady I was lucky enough to call Grandma Nancy.

Love you Grandma,
Chrissy
