MICHAEL "MIKE" CLYDE ROGERS
January 29, 1949 ~ June 26, 2014
Mike Rogers passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family, on June 26, 2014 in Vancouver, WA after a short battle with cancer.
He was born and raised in Vancouver, WA. Mike was a wrestler at Hudson's Bay High School where he graduated in 1968.
Shortly following his graduation, Mike joined the United States Army. Of his four honorable years served (1968-1972), he spent from February 1969 - February 1970 in Vietnam. Mike came home to work 30 years in the plywood industry.
He will always be remembered as a kind, loving, funny and gentle soul. Mike was always a very happy person; he loved nice cars, "Old Time Rock-n-Roll", going to the high school football games with his best friend, spending time with friends, family and above all his spirituality. He always found joy in life, had a smile on his face and a joke for each and every person he saw.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Johna Lou Rogers. He is survived by his father, Parker "Pete" Rogers; brother, Parker Rogers (Charlotte); daughter, Lorraine (Russell); granddaughter, Aliyah; nieces, Bridgett, Nikki and Angeline; and countless great-nieces and nephews.
A man of endless smiles, laughter, joy and love; Mike will be forever missed and always remembered by all those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

My uncle mike was one of the most sweetest people you could ever meet. I will always think of him when my son "pops his cheek". I'm so lucky that I got to share my son with such an amazing man. We love you uncle Mike and we think of you every day.

Mike was a great brother. even tho he had lots of good reasons not to be such a great brother to me.i'll always remember him as trying to make a good joke out of every situation that came up every day, some were really good and some were really bad, and some only mike could understand. then hours or days or sometimes months would go by and you would just be sitting there then all of a sudden it would hit you and you would say to yourself, i get that joke. Mike will truly be missed. along with his everyday jokes. lov you bro.

My uncle Mike was one of the most genuinely sweet, happiest by nature souls I've ever been blessed to know. He always made me feel like he had been given a gift when he saw me, right up until the time he passed. I still think of him every day and always will~Love him so...

Mike and I go back to Portco about June of 72 or 73. What a guy. I was with him when he realized he had a problem fainting and then his operation. I don't know how I ever lost track of him after, but the legacy of friends he left behind in their kind thoughts of him tell me he did very well. If I have one regret it would be we never reconnected. His can do attitude was a major inspiration to all he can in contact with. He was a fun team mate.

I knew Mike at Linnton Plywood Assn. He inspired happiness in everyone. Later, and for many years he rode as one of my passengers on C-Tran, I was always glad to see him again. I met his Dad Pete, once and understood where his positive attitude came from. May Mike's family know that he was loved by all who knew him.

Mike was a great person to work with. He was always happy and one of the hardest workers on any job. We worked together at two mills. I also worked with Pete at Multnomah Plywood.
