MICHAEL C. HARVEY
September 19, 1939 ~ February 2, 2018
Michael C. Harvey of Brush Prairie, Washington, went home to Heaven after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born September 19, 1939 in Walla Walla, Washington. The Harvey Grandmothers moved Mike and his brother to Vancouver where he attended local schools until he was of age to join the Air Force in 1957.
On June 28th, 1958 Mike and Betty were married. Together they built Meadowcharm Farm beginning with only 3 Guernsey calves. For four decades the dairy was locally famous delivering fresh milk to Vancouver homes. Meadowcharm Farm products were distributed in Portland area health food stores, and the Beaverton Farmer's Market.
Mike was given the first annual, "Outstanding Young Guernsey Dairy Farmer", award by the American Guernsey Association. He was Chairman of the National Guernsey Convention (when held in Portland, Oregon). Mike was given countless awards over the years and was a member of the Guernsey Cattle Association, the Holstein Association, and the American Dairy Association.
Mike and Betty retired in 2000 and spent 15 years travelling. This June the couple would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Michael is survived by wife, Betty; children, Lisa Harvey, Michele Harvey, Priscilla Yost and David Harvey (Christine); grandchildren, Ryan Sutherland (Carie), Sara Sutherland, Emily Martinez (Ivan), Abigail Jones (Matt), Lilly Yost, Clayton Yost, Alexander Harvey, Anna Harvey and Nicholas Harvey; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Dylan Lindsey, Cruz Costa, Colton and Morgan Sutherland and Jacob Jones; his brother, John Harvey (Sharon); nephews, Sean Harvey, Eric Harvey and Kevin Harvey; and niece, Kelly Gray (their respective spouses and children).
The Funeral Service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Avenue, Vancouver, on Saturday, February 24th at 12:30 p.m.

We've heard it said that you can tell when a beautiful soul has left this earth, by the smiles and tears upon the faces of friends and loved-ones and the wonderful sweet memories that are left behind. Mike left us with many sweet memories. We were privileged and blessed to have known this very interesting and hard-working man. As he and Betty explored the Southern regions of her youth, Mike came to love the Southern heritage and the people here. We loved him, also. He shared much of his hard earned wisdom and family stories with us as we hiked the beautiful, and sometimes arduous, trails of South Carolina. As we now shed tears that he is gone from us, Mike left with us many beautiful memories and we are better for having had the opportunity to know this precious man. My heart and prayers go out to Betty, Lisa, Michelle, Pricilla, David and their families. Many great memories of growing up around The Meadow charm farm and the family! Mike was a very hard working man! And a family man! I remember how exciting it was when he got the milk homogenizer!! And how fun it was to help bottle and cap the milk jugs and put them in crates and put in the refrigerator room. May his memory live on in your hearts and help you through this very difficult time.

So sorry to hear about Mike's passing but glad he no longer has to suffer this terrible disease. My husband, Jake Faeh, always liked testing Mike's cows, he was one of his favorites. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
