Merle was a Friday member of Wind Horse Coffee round table. We always looked forward to having him add his two cents to our conversations. He usually had a positive or humorous comment! He greeted each of us with a warm handshake and a smile. Several of us were fortunate to have our yards benefit from Merle's green thumb as he generously shared his passion of gardening with us. He will always be the speedster of solving the Friday crossword puzzle! We will miss him in Milwaukie!

My heart hurts that I didn't get to say goodbye, but I am thankful for all of the times our paths crossed. Merle was always such a positive soul! I have included a picture from my wedding as it was the last picture we ever took together. You will be greatly missed! - Andrea Albert Morton

Merle was my faithful friend. I loved him dearly. We spend hours together doing things that were interesting. He always had a helping hand for me and treated me with respect and kindness. I will always be grateful to him for these things. We went looking for dogs together when I was looking for my dog. He fell in love with them and found a wonderful companion when I let him take Poe after loosing Duke. Merle and I agreed that Poe belonged to both of us and also his little doggie friend "Pie". I am looking forward to having Poe with me again as he will always remind me of Merle. Thank you Merle for all of the things you did for me and all the support and love you showed me over these past many years. May God bless and keep you. Joan Albert

I will never forget the kindness he showed the poor neighbor kid when he lived by the Lake Store. He took me shooting in the basement of the Oak Park School. A fond memory from over 65 years ago.

I have such fond memories of this great guy when I worked with him in what used to be the Central Research Division of Crown Zellerbach. He was truly a wonderful person and I so enjoyed his sense of humor. Condolences to all his family.

Everyone will remember Merle as a soft-spoken and dedicated member of the Crown Zellerbach team who also happened to be a talented and respected chemist who let his competence and expertise speak for themselves. He will be missed by the Camas community and all that worked with him.
