MARGARET ANN (FORNEY) CHIECHI
March 31, 1937 ~ January 7, 2018
Margaret (Maggie) Chiechi passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 80. She was born in Rising City, Nebraska to William Roland Forney and Ruth Alveretta (McCoy) Forney. She attended elementary school in Rising City, before moving to Vanport, Oregon. Her family lost their home in the Vanport flood, and relocated to Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Franklin High School where she was a baton twirler and played the clarinet in the high school band.
Margaret married Larry Chiechi in June of 1958, and had two daughters, Ruth and Marla. They lived in southern California, and later relocated to Vancouver, WA. She worked many jobs in her lifetime, including telephone operator, cashier, and factory worker at Jantzen, and American Kotobuki. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and games, baking, quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading and camping. She also enjoyed watching her favorite gospel and country music shows on RFD every Saturday.
She is survived by her daughters, Ruth (Mike) Conner, Marla (Jeff) Anderson; grandchildren Melissa Quick, Gavin and Layne Conner; great-granddaughters Mikayla and A.J. Quick; many nieces, nephews and friends. She also loved her dog, Bella, who was a great companion to her. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Donovan Arends; ex-husband Larry Chiechi; brothers Alvin, Darrel and Stanley Forney and sister Mary Warmoth.
Please join Margaret's family to celebrate her life on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA. Her final place of rest will be at Willamette National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Washington.
