MARGARET "PEGGY" ANN CARPENTER
August 19, 1928 ~ May 12, 2017
Margaret "Peggy" Ann Carpenter passed away peacefully on May 12, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Peggy was born on August 19, 1928 to Gert and Art Purdy in Greeley, NB. Her family left Nebraska in 1939 and settled in Mt. Angel, OR, and then Vancouver. She graduated from Vancouver High School in 1945. She married Don Carpenter on October 12, 1946 in Vancouver, WA.
Peggy worked in the shipyards in Vancouver during WWII. She worked many years as an office manager and retired from Mr. Plywood. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, 8 et 40, Dollar's Corner Moose Lodge WOTM #2119, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Peggy enjoyed working in her yard, watching Mariner baseball games, and playing pull tabs and slot machines. Her pride and joy, however, was her "beautiful family" and the many get-togethers they shared.
Peggy is survived by her four children: Mary Allen, Donna Ottman (Dennis Brown), John Carpenter, Joe Carpenter and her good friend Andy Andrews who was like a son to her. She also had 11 grandchildren and 16 great grand- children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters (Betty Noakes and Patricia Purdy), and her son-in-law Art Allen.
A special thanks to the Bata Family; Lucy, Anca, and Aurel who took wonderful, loving care of Peggy the last year and a half. We are very grateful.
