LEWIS "BUD" CHILCOTE
July 10, 1927 ~ March 14, 2011
Lewis Earl Chilcote, known as "Bud", passed away on March 14, 2011 in Camas, WA. He was born on July 10, 1927 in Iola, KS.
After Bud finished his service with the Army he came to work at Crown Zellerbach in Camas where he met and married his wife of 57 years, Darlene. He retired from the print department in 1983.
Bud was an active member of the VFW and organized their bus trips to the casinos. He would drive his 1944 Army Jeep in the Camas Days Parade. Bud loved the outdoors going fishing, hunting and camping. He enjoyed spending time at the property on the Little White Salmon River. Bud was an avid fan of baseball. He passed on this love to his children and grandchildren and got involved with Little League, again with the grandkids. He loved going to the airport and watching the planes and one of his hobbies was working on motorcycles, fixing them up for kids that otherwise wouldn't be able to have one.
Survivors include his sons, Bruce and his wife, Michelle, Jeff and his wife Connie; sister, Martha; three grandchildren, Melissa, her husband Bill, Cody and his wife, Stacie, and Cameron; and great-grandchildren, Kort and Ella; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, in 2007.
Bud's life will be celebrated during a niche side service at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery on Mon., March 21 at 1:00 p.m.
Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of the arrangements.
Memorial donations can be given to either the VFW Post 4278 at 1718 SE 7th Street, Camas, WA 98607 or the Mt. View House at 2647 NW Kent, Camas, WA 98607.

I always appreciated Bud's help and experience when I worked in the bag factory until I left in 1970. I enjoyed our visits thru the later years and waving as we observed his walks around Washougal. Once in a while I would give him a ride home from the store and discuss hanging tomato plants. I will miss his smile.
