LEANOR J. THORNBURG
March 16, 1927 ~ March 27, 2011
"You will be missed by all and never forgotten, not a day will
go by without a thought of you. We love you and miss you."
On March 27th, 2011, heaven got lucky and received an angel, our beautiful mom and our best friend, Leanor J. Thornburg of Vancouver, WA. She was born in Burns, OR on March 16, 1927.
Our mom will always be remembered by her kind and gentle soul. Her joy for life was evident to all that had met her. Leanor cherished her life long friendships. Her true legacy of love, kindness and respect will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Leanor is survived by her daughters, Joan Stone and Debbie Thornburg; grandchildren, Casey and Cari Inman, Chelsee Stone and Dane Kelsey; and great-grandchildren, Mihkayla and Allie.
She was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Thornburg.
A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
Because of her great love of animals, memorial donations may be sent to the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society or an animal shelter of your choice.

Not a day goes by that I dont look across the street and think of Lea. I know she is in heaven with my parents sharing love and memories.

Lea was my friend, my neighbor and my second mom when I was growing up. She raised 3 beautiful children who all turned out to be as wonderful as she was, a testament to her love. She touched every life she came in contact with, young to old. Anyone having the privilege of knowing her is a better person for it. She is in a better place, spreading her wings for others to rejoice in. I will never forget when I came to visit with my Doberman and Nubian goat. She was fine with the dog and when the goat trotted in the house, she looked totally shocked but she just shook her head and started petting it. Lea, you gave me love, lots of great memories, and 3 great friends. Rest in Peace my friend.

Nothing was better than spending the night and in the morning being served cocoa and toast by Mrs Thornburg, at their cozy kitchen booth, with her wonderful smile and kind eyes that made you know you were in a safe and loving haven.
I am honored to be a best good friend to your daughter, who exemplifies all that was good and loving in you, and a pleasure to be around...as were you. Rest now Mamma T and know that others will look after your girls. Your work here is done.

If you were lucky enough to be at the Thornburg home on any given afternoon, you may have had the chance to see one of her Son's Donnie's favorite pranks. Us kids would be sitting on a large bean bag chair when Lee would walk into the room. Donne would leap to his feet and lean in and grab his Mom and hoist her over his shoulder. Then he would commence to spin her around in the air as Lee would squeal like a school girl while she slapped his back-side. Then after he let her down she would pretend to scold him, but the scolding never worked because she had a great big smile on her face. Yes she loved life and the living of it. She was full of energy also (made her own espresso in her kitchen back in the early 70's, way before it was cool). Thanks Mrs. "T" for you example of hard work and genuine kindness to all.
