Our Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend, Lawrence William "Bill" Fisher, of Hockinson, WA, left this Earth on Oct. 16, 2012 after a long struggle with heart disease. He was born Sept. 23, 1930 in Ridgefield, WA. Bill was raised in Sifton, graduating from the original "Union High School" in 1948 and attended Washington State College in Pullman, WA.
He was a U.S. Marine and served in Korea.
Bill retired in 1984 after working at Alcoa Aluminum for 30 years. After retiring, Bill and Ella Mae enjoyed traveling in their RV and spending time with their children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed working in his yard and garden.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ella Mae Fisher; children: Teresa (Scott) Hill, Larry (Debbie) Fisher, Robert (Bob) Fisher, Laurie (Steve) Suchy and William (Bill) (Susan) Fisher; grandchildren: Christy, Taylor, Brandonn, Marcie, Elizabeth, Mike, Nicole, Danielle, Tiffany, Jennifer, Michelle, Brian, Kayla and Ryan; eight great-grandchildren; sisters: Barbara Kreinbring and Pat (Dan) Wallenmeyer; sister-in-law: Janet (Roy) Bellcoff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence A. and Emma M. Fisher; and an infant son, John David.
Special appreciation is extended to Dr. Michael Cooper and the Cardiology staff at The Vancouver Clinic, who have supported Bill during his extended illness. Special thanks is also given to the staff of Hospice Southwest for their dedication, compassion, and professional care.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wed., Oct. 24, 2012 at Layne's Funeral Home in Battle Ground, WA.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Oregon Health Sciences University, Anatomical Research Fund, 3181 SW Sam Jackson Park Rd., Portland, OR 97239-3098.
