Kathleen Shattuck Obituary

KATHLEEN "KAYE" MARILYN
(BAUDER) SHATTUCK
September 29, 1928 ~ February 28, 2018

Kathleen "Kaye" Marilyn Bauder Shattuck passed away at age 89 on February 28, 2018, in Vancouver, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, John "Jack" C. Bauder and Mae E. (Rindy) Bauder.

Kaye graduated from Fort Vancouver High in 1946. She then attended Washington State University (Go Cougs!) for a degree in Dietetics in 1951, which is where she met her husband James Shattuck. Through his career as an Air Force pilot, Kathleen traveled to many places and lived throughout Europe and the United States.

Kaye enjoyed an active lifestyle that included tennis, gardening, swimming, skiing and traveling. She returned to Vancouver in 1979 and worked as an educator at Clark County Community College, teaching in the Culinary Arts department and managing their teaching restaurant. The students particularly enjoyed her Wine Appreciation courses. Known for having an always-positive attitude, Kaye was an active participant in the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and touched the lives of many in the Vancouver community.

Kathleen is survived by her brother, Robert Bauder (Joanne) of Boise, ID; her four daughters, Shari Shattuck (Andy George), Nancy Stevens (Rick), Susan (Suki) Shattuck (Les Kaplan), and Ann Shattuck; along with her surviving grandchildren, Glyndyn Davis, John and Kathleen Stevens (Sean Suastegui), Austin and Trent Wellner; and her great-granddaughter, Claire Suastegui. She was predeceased by her oldest grandchild, Lindsey Davis.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to OHSU's Dr. Ryan and Peace Health Hospice for their never-tiring efforts and wonderful care.

At Kaye's request, there will be no funeral services. Condolences may left online at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, www.evergreenmemorialgardens.com.

Memorial donations may be made to OHSU's Knight Cancer Institute at www.onwardohsu.org or to Washington State University's Crimson Opportunity Scholarship Fund at foundation.wsu.edu.

Kaye was wise and warm, a part of Clark College and a member of the workout group at Propstra Pool. She had special skills - gardening, decorating, food presentation - that made her surroundings a visual treat.
