Jerry Erickson Obituary

JERRY ERICKSON
June 29, 1930 ~ February 9, 2011

Jerry Erickson, 80, died at SW Washington Medical Center on Wed., Feb. 9, 2011. She was born the 3rd of five children to Dewey and Elva McEllrath on June 29, 1930, in Rockford, IL. The family moved to the Vancouver, WA area in1943 where she attended school.
Jerry worked in local theaters as a young girl, and then at The National Bank of Commerce until it became Rainier Bank and then Bank of America, from which she retired after 32 years.
She filled much of her retirement time bowling, dancing and playing cards. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge, Chapter 970, and enjoyed many of the lodge activities. She was an avid crossword-puzzle fan and she and "Bugs" spent a lot of time in their younger years traveling in their motor home and enjoyed golfing and gardening. Their home's backyard was always like a park and the scene of many family festivities.
Jerry is survived by her brother, Harry McEllrath; sister, Gloria Jacobsen; sisters-in-law, Nancy McEllrath, Ruth Martin and Nikki Parvi; and numerous nieces, nephews, their spouses and children.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Henry "Bugs" or "Hank" Erickson; and her brothers, Kenneth and Robert McEllrath.
Jerry was an important figure in the McEllrath and Erickson families, and will be missed at all family celebrations and gatherings.
A chapel service will be held on Sun., Feb. 13, 2011, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens at 12:30 p.m.
Any contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to SW Washington Humane Society.

Aunt Jerry, I will miss you!! You were a very Sweet & Classy Lady. I always wanted to be like You when I was growing up. I am so happy I talked to you a few months ago, sometimes life goes by so fast you don't think to keep in touch with the people you love as much as you should.
Love you always, Lori
