JANET "JAN" MARIE (PUTNAM) ORR
May 16, 1946 ~ October 10, 2013
Janet Putnam Orr, 67, Vancouver, WA, died Oct. 10, 2013, after a year long battle with breast cancer.
Jan is survived by her husband, Roger; mother, Virginia; twin brother, James (Vicki); son, Michael Summers; grandchildren, Corey, Scottee, Kristen and Michael Jr., all in Vancouver area.
Jan worked in the insurance industry and spent the last 20 years devoted to raising her grandchildren. She was always dressed to the T, was the original Vancouver "Hostess with the Mostess" and was always making sure the road was a little smoother for those around her.
Jan has earned her wings, we have filled her with our earthly love, it is now time for her to fly with the angels. Jan's request was for no services, a simple gathering of family and friends will be held in the near future.

I feel so fortunate to have known this incredible lady. We were good friends and Sisters-In-Laws. Jan was incredibly generous with the family, always hosting our big gatherings, to accommodate the crowd. She adored her family, and was committed to giving the best experiences ever to each. I will forever miss Jan, her outrageous laugh, her sense of humor, wisdom, and devotion to her family. May you rest in peace now, dear angel. Your impact and legacy will live on always. With deepest condolences to Roger, and every family member and friend whose lives were touched by this beautiful lady.

Amazingly positive, and a laugh that made one laugh with her. Corey, Mikey, Kristen, she was absolutely devoted to you. Nearly every time we met, she spoke of her love for you. Roger, and all the family, know that tons of care goes to you from your friends at Mikey's other school. ;) We will be looking for you in extra-curricular school programs! Mikey, I expect to receive a high school graduation announcement from you. Hugs and love to all. Boni M.

Jan and I met many years ago when I was a Campfire Leader for Corey. So Jan's kids and my kids grew up together. From the moment we met I knew we would be friends. I never knew we would become than that. Jan was an amazing women, so strong an independent. I always use to tell her when I grow up I want to be just like you. Well I just don't think those shoes could eve be filled by anyone again. Jan was a one of a kind Lady! When God made her he broke the mold! My family was luck to have part of her life and we will miss her greatly.

Jan was such a beautiful person in her strength, perseverance, selflessness, love she had for others and last but never least her physical beauty. I've known her and the whole family for more than a year, through her grandson corey, during which she was first diagnosed. She was a trooper and one of the strongest woman I know. Even through the progession of her long and tough battle she still had a smile on her face, her uplifting laugh could be heard from miles away and she still looked fabulous! She is and will always be missed but I'm glad to know she is safe with her father and other relatives as well as that I know she will always be looking out for Kristin, Mikey, and Corey.

Jan and I were best friends from the time we first met in the eighth grade. We even had our first apartment together. I will miss her terribly, our long chats on the phone and our visits in person. Jan was a very special lady, always looking out for and taking care of others, many times putting her need behind to do for everyone else in the family. Jan was a spectacular cook, I am sure everyone in heaven will enjoy her creations!
My heart goes out to the family, I am sure she taught the kids all they need to know to have a good life. Apply that knowledge and make Nanna Mommy proud. Love to you all.

Jan was full of energy and sass. She was a tigress for her two kids I knew her through, Kristen and "Mikey". Jan, I know you felt your job wasn't done, but your kids are a tribute to you and your nurturing strength. We will continue to be there to support Mikey as he finishes his time at Columbia River.
