November 7, 1961 ~ August 2, 2016
James Richard Van Geyten passed away in Vancouver, WA on Aug. 2, 2016. He was born Nov. 7, 1961 in Rochester, NY. His parents, Richard and Janet Van Geyten, chose him for their own shortly after his birth, and brought him home to join his sister Kathi.
After Jim moved to Vancouver, he created three different successful businesses, culminating with Legends Food and Fun, a thriving Hazel Dell hotspot that became his home away from home, and whose employees were like a second family to him.
Jim was a man of many interests, but his real joy came from riding his Harley, spending time with his friends, taking his daughter on dates, and helping anyone who asked him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Janet (Hegeman) Van Geyten.
He is survived by his sister, Kathi (Clyde) Buchanan; a niece, four nephews, and 5 great-nieces and nephews.
Jim leaves behind three children of his own, Tony Montes De Oca (Marissa), McKala Van Geyten, and Alexandra "Lexi" Van Geyten; as well as grandchildren, Collin and Kynlee McCarty; and dozens of very close friends who enriched his life greatly.
A memorial service will be held at 2p.m., Sat., Sept. 10, 2016 at the Vancouver Church of Christ, located at 9019 NE 86th St., Vancouver, WA 98662. A reception will follow, location to be announced at the service.
In lieu of flowers, Jim would have wanted people to NOT vote for Hillary Clinton in November.

I didn't know James but in scanning the obituaries I noted his wish that we NOT vote for Hilary Clinton. Be assured I will honor that wish. Rest in Peace Jim.

Jim was a dear Tenant and friend to the Collins Family for over 14 years.. He always followed through with his commitment to us.. I was lucky to have Jim in our lives. Jim will be missed & remembered by us forever.. I hope all the people that Jim tried to help, are able to make positive progress. Jim truly cared about people.
I spoke to Jim about life & death a week before he died.. He seemed content that he had his affairs in order..Only GOD knew death would come so soon after.
James "JIM" VanGeten forever my friend!
