JAMES S. SANDVIG
June 9, 1935 ~ February 18, 2017
"James will be missed and
always will be with us in spirit."
James S. Sandvig passed away on Feb. 18, 2017 at Salmon Creek Legacy Hospital in Vancouver, WA. He was born June 9, 1935 to Dan and Elaine Sandvig on the family ranch in Kewa, WA. James spent his early years on the ranch and attended school in a one room school house (one row for each grade - Jim wouldn't attend school without his yellow or blue necktie.)
He later moved to Centralia, WA where he grew up with his extended family of cousins. Jim attended the Centralia schools and Centralia College.
Jim enjoyed may interests, including oil painting, steel guitar, photography, hunting, fishing, and working on his old '59 Rambler.
Jim married Vernita Eklund in 1958 and was transferred to Vancouver in 1964 with their 3 children (Teresa, Kaye and Dan) where he later retired from Ventura Foods.
Jim is survived by his wife, Vernita; 2 daughters and their husbands (Teresa and Larry Welton, Kaye and Randy Olson); son (Dan Sandvig); along with 3 grandchildren (Nicolle (Dylan), James and Kyler); and 2 great-grandchildren (Ashley and Coen).
His family would like to thank Salmon Creek Legacy for their excellent care.
Upon James' request, there will not be a service.
