JAMES DUANE ROWLAND
June 14, 1943 ~ January 3, 2018
James was born in Vancouver, WA June 14, 1953, and passed away January 3, 2018 at Sunnyside Hospital. James was raised in Vancouver and went to the Washington State School for the Deaf and graduated in 1973.
He loved cats and had a pet cat for a long time. When it died he said 'no more pets, it hurts too much.' He also raised some Japanese silky chickens.
James worked at the Goodwill for a while, but his health started to give many problems. He was in a wheelchair for several years. But it didn't stop him. He would take the bus to Joe Brown's Cafe downtown. Here he met many nice people and enjoyed it very much. They were very nice to James, so were the workers.
James was loved by his family and we will miss him. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack L. Rowland and his sister Sharon F. Rowland. He leaves behind his mother, Florence K. Rowland; two brothers, Jeff and Jack Jr., and many cousins.
Graveyard service will be Friday, January 19, 2018 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens at 12:00 noon. Coffee and cookies will be served in the hospitality room after the service.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the SW Washington Humane Society.

I have always loved James, he was smart and he had a great sense of humor. I remember when he was a kid and he used to build elaborate things out of tinker toys. Please accept my love and prayers, Honey Diane Johnson-Jones (Rowland)

We are very sorry for your loss. We did not know James, but Sharon was a friend of ours here in Olympia. You are in our prayers.
