May 11, 1939 ~ August 14, 2017

Jack Meacham, 78, passed away on August 14, 2017 in Portland, Oregon. Born May 11, 1939 to Ellis and Mildred (Regenniter) Meacham in Sutherland, Iowa, he was the second of four children. The family moved to Portland, Oregon during World War II. He grew up in the Vanport, Portland area and attended Benson High School.
Jack married Georgie Burt in 1958.
He enlisted in the Army in 1957. After basic training at Ft. Benning, Georgia, he was stationed in Germany.
In 1966, he married Cathie. They were married for 51 years. They enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and visiting with family.
Jack worked as a machinist for Local 63 then Bonneville Power Administration. He was a Substation Operator for BPA for many years and retired as a Power System Dispatcher in 1995 with 30 years of federal service. Jack took an approved leave of absence from BPA to work as a Business Representative for IBEW Local #125 in the early 1980's. He believed very strongly in the Union.
Jack thoroughly enjoyed retirement and was always saying "I haven't missed a day of work since retiring." He had many funny quotes that friends and family called "Jack-isms".
Jack will be remembered for his quick wit
and funny sense of humor. If you spent any time
with him you were most likely laughing.
