"America lost a great trucker."
Harold Hass, a 19-year resident of Vancouver, WA, passed away at home on Aug. 15, 2010. He was born in Yamhill County, OR to Carl W. and Katherine (Meier) Hass.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947 as a private.
Harold owned and operated a long haul trucking company for 40+ years and during the past 20 years. He owned and operated Grandview Enterprises Inc. in Vancouver up until his death.
He enjoyed taking trips to Alaska with his brother Dave and son Hans to fish in Freshwater Bay and elk hunting with his brothers at Starky, OR.
Harold is survived by his wife of two years, Victoria(Grant) Hass; his three children of Vancouver, Hans, Natasha and Kathaleen; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, David of Garabaldi, OR and Richard of Milwaukie, OR; and three sisters, Katherine of Portland, OR, Evelyn of McKinleyville, CA and Patricia of Salem, OR.
A memorial service will be held at Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home on Thurs., Aug. 19, 2010 at 12:30 p.m.

We are so sad to hear our Uncle Harold has gone away.He was such a good man.We never saw Our Aunt or cousins go without anything,he was a excellent provider.We will always miss him.

Thanks to Harold, John and I got to travel the United States and parts of Canada. Working for Harold was a blessing for us in many ways. We appreciate how he touched our lives, and know that he has passed to a better place. We offer our condolences to Harold's family and friends.

We at Teague's Tire were saddened to hear of Harold's passing.He was an honorable man and a real straight shooter.The trucking industry lost one of it's great men and our prayers go out to the family in this time.

Harold will be missed greatly. He was a great person with a big heart. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work many years for Grandview, it was an honor and priviledge. Harold was always there for me, as a boss & friend. You are in the heaven now with so many other of our Grandview buddies. God Bless.

Harold Hass loved his family, and once told me you will never work a day in your life if you love what you do, he loved trucking and all his employees who he thought of as friends! It was an great honor to work for such a fine company that he cared so much about with all the nice people who worked for him also that I was fortunate to meet and know through his great kindness and friendship and truly a pleasure that I will always remember! Harold, thank you for all the things you have accomplished over the years. You were like a father to me and you will always be remembered. You gave me a job when i needed one, gave me leadership advice, and was always there to talk too when i needed a friend. I'm going to miss you.
