GUY "GUNNY" F. KYLER, JR.
September 18, 1929 ~ April 21, 2011
"He loved his God, his family
and his country more than anything."
Guy "Gunny" F. Kyler, Jr. of Vancouver, WA, went to Heaven April 21st, 2011, from complications of Dementia. He was born Sept. 18th, 1929, in Buffalo, NY, to Catherine Mannen and Guy Kyler, Sr.
Guy went into the U.S. Marine Corps at 17, where he became a Gunnary Sgt., serving his country for over 21 years, fighting on the front lines of the Laos, Korean and Vietnam wars, where he received many honors, including three purple hearts.
He was our hero, our countries hero and will be sorely missed until we see him again on the front lines in Heaven.
After retiring from the military, he and his family moved to Vancouver, where he went to work for the United States Postal Service for 20 years.
Retiring from there in 1988, Guy went into security, eventually working at the Vancouver Mall, where he made many special friends.
Guy loved to fish, golf and draw. He was offered a job for Disney as a cartoon artist, but chose to stay and fight for our country instead.
Guy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doreen Kyler; daughters, Karen King, Kim Hubbard (Paul), and Shawna Kyler; his best friend and grandson, Kaleb Johanson; grandsons, Phillip King and Jordan Hubbard; granddaughter, Brandi King; and two great-granddaughters, Samantha and Alize.
A special thank you to the nurses and care givers at the Ray Hickey Hospice house, for taking such good care of him, and of us in his final days.
A memorial service will be at New Heights Church at 7913 NE 58th St., Vancouver, WA 98665 at 1:30 p.m., Tues., April 26, 2011.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Ray Hickey Hospice House.

I will always remember the times we went fishing together and all the golf we played. I also know you made a fine letter carrier and enjoyed your job. May god bless you and your family. Daryl Rothfus

Kyler Family--Guy certainly had a presence about him. He could command authority or make you feel completely welcomed. A gift few men are able to balance; and yet he did. I'm sorry for your loss and think of him fondly.

We will miss him in the neighborhood. He always had a smile on his face, and weeds in his hands. I hope there is a lawn in heaven for him.
