FRANK E. NEWMAN
February 28, 1923 ~ November 7, 2012
Frank E. Newman, 89, of Vancouver, WA, died Wed., Nov. 7, 2012 at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. He was born Feb. 28, 1923 in Yakima, WA to H. Erbine and Lucy Newman. Frank grew up in Yakima on an apple orchard with his family.
After high school, he attended WSU, but interrupted his education in order to join the Navy Air Corp as an aviator during WWII. While still in the Navy, Frank married the love of his life, Mickie.
After his discharge from the service, he returned to finish his education, earning a Bachelor's degree.
Frank was employed by BPA as an electrical engineer for 57 years. He was a master craftsman. He loved woodworking, construction, stained glass and making jewelry. He also greatly enjoyed his singing with the Vancouver Singers and Our Lady of Lourdes Choir, and for many years he volunteered with F.I.S.H of Vancouver.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Mickie; daughters, Carol (Ken) Nelson, Nancy (Jim) Young and Patty (Dave) Leinweber; siblings, David Newman and Dorothy Schwab; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass for Frank will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Sat., Nov. 17th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
