March 17, 1921 ~ February 28, 2018

Eunice passed away in her Vancouver, WA home Feb. 28, 2018, just short of her 97th birthday. Born near Renner, SD, north of Sioux Falls, to Bennie and Emma Moe, she enjoyed growing up on a farm as the middle child of nine. She loved telling stories in Norwegian and English about her large family. In cooking, baking, and other ways, she carried on Norwegian traditions.
She met Howard Thompson of Woodland, WA, at a USO dance in Sioux Falls. On July 31, 1945, they married in Wichita Falls, TX. When he came back from Manila, they moved to Vanport, OR, which was destroyed by a 1948 flood. They moved in 1949 from Portland to the Heights in Vancouver, lived 1951-1956 in Minnehaha, then settled on Wahclellah Ave. Howard passed away in 2016.
Eunice enjoyed her life as homemaker, wife, mother to Mike and David, and grandmother to Karen (husband Scott) Thompson, all of Vancouver. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Ernst; her sister-in-law, Lois Moe; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was active in Trinity Lutheran and Sons of Norway here. Eunice was known for her thoughtfulness; she knew birthdates of hundreds of relatives and friends, sending countless cards and letters.
A memorial service will be held on Sat., March 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran. The private committal will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity.
