September 9, 1952 ~ January 27, 2016
Emmet J. Stormo, Jr., 63, of Ridgefield, WA, passed away suddenly after suffering a heart attack at Salmon Creek Hospital in Vancouver, WA. He was born in Monroe, WA and graduated from Lake Stevens High School.
Emmet received an Associate of Forestry degree from Everett Community College and a Bachelors degree in Human Resources from George Fox College.
Emmet retired from the Washington State Patrol as a lieutenant after 25 years, serving in many positions including their motorcycle unit, lead instructor of the Patrol's motorcycle program, Executive Protection Unit protecting two governors, and Investigative Assistance Division. Emmet later worked for the Washington State Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Division as a wildlife officer, was an assistant chief with the University of Washington Police Department, and was the director of Public Safety at Harborview Medical Center. He was conducting background investigations for the Washington State Patrol, plus working as an associate for Margolis Healy and Associates upon his passing.
Emmet enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, softball player and golfer.
Emmet was a loving husband to Vicky Stormo and loving father to Chad Stormo, Trisha Stormo and Jimmy Gilbert. He is also survived by his mother, Elreen Stormo; brother, George Stormo; sister, Beverly Vodegel; three granddaughters; and three grandsons. His caring nature and witty personality resulted in leaving a lot of good friends behind as well. He was preceded in death by his father, Emmet J. Stormo, Sr.
A service will be held at the Nile Shriner Golf Center in Mountlake Terrace, WA at 1:00 p.m. on Feb. 15, 2016.

On the anniversary of his passing I'm still sorry Emmet is gone, he was a truly honest and good person since I knew him in High School.
It made sense he would have wanted to protect and serve his community. Thankful for his good works.

Wendall and I were so sorry to hear of Emmet's passing. After our daughter, Stacy, married Vicky's son, Jimmy, we were very fortunate to become acquainted with Emmet and spent many family holidays together. We always enjoyed and looked forward to spending time with Emmet and Vicky. He was a wonderful man and he will be missed.

Wendyjean and I send our deepest sympathy to Vicky and all the Stormo family. We were both blessed and welcomed by Vicky and Emmett when we first joined the Ruth softball family. Will always remember Emmett's fierce competitiveness on the field and great sense of humor off the field. I have to say it, in all my years of playing ball I saw Emmett pull off the "anti-cycle". In a tourney in Sacramento, Emmett hit a single out, hit into a double play and also hit into a triple play, all in the same game! The competitive Emmett was pretty mad, but the great person he was, Emmett laughed along with all of us! Truly a great person who will be deeply missed by all of us....rest in peace big man! God bless you!

Emmet was always positive and passionate about his life, family, and work. I will miss him and will keep Vicky and his family in my thoughts and prayers.

Emmet was a great friend and will be missed tremendously! It won't be the same this summer at the softball fields around the state without him. He was a great player and much sought after like his brother. We have lost a wonderful person who served his community wherever he lived. God bless his family and many of us will play ball this summer with a heavy heart. He was one of the best Troopers I ever knew and worked with. Somewhere on a softball field, golf course, or hunting camp Emmet will be waiting for the rest of us to join him for some laughs and fun. God Bless him!
