My father, Roy O. Gunter, was a turret gunner on the plane that Ed flew in the Pacific during WWII. They kept in touch for many years. Dad thought the world of his pilot. Dad passed away just a few weeks after Ed, on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in Duncan, OK. RIP to two members of The Greatest Generation.

I was with a Marine tactical air control unit in Vietnam, so I feel a kinship, although a generation separated. Thank you for your service. Next time I play the Marine's Hymn on my bagpipes, I'll think of you and my other brothers who've passed. Semper Fi.
