May 22, 1988 ~ February 28, 2017

David J. Devier, 28, of Goldsboro, NC, passed away Feb. 28, 2017 during stateside active duty. He was born May 22, 1988 in Portland, OR and grew up in Ridgefield, WA attending school there and eventually graduating in 2006. While in high school, David loved skateboarding and welding.
Following high school, David joined the Air Force, attending basic training at Lackland AFB in Texas.
He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling, many opportunities of which were provided to him by the Air Force. David was deployed to the Middle East several times, it wasn't his first choice of places to visit, but he did get to see a lot of the world and many stories, both hilarious and tragic.
Anyone who knew David knew that he was incredibly generous of heart, time, and money. He was always willing to help
his fellow man, even if it meant literally taking the coat off
of his own back to give to a homeless man.
David is survived by his parents, Susan and David Valdez; siblings, Michael (Rachael) Devier, Eric Devier, Melanie Valdez, Lourdes (Jordan) Fosdick and David B. Valdez; aunts and uncles, Jeff and Julie Pettit, Tim and Pamela McGee and Richard McGee; and 5 nephews.
A celebration of David's life will be 1:00 p.m., Mon., March 13th at First Presbyterian Church, 4300 Main St., Vancouver, WA 98663. Interment will be at Vancouver Barracks Post Cemetery.
