DANIEL ROLAND PROUDFIT
March 31, 1967 ~ May 23, 2018
Daniel passed away on May 23rd, 2018. He was born March 31st, 1967, in Portland, OR, to Delbert Proudfit and Lois Proudfit (Maxwell). Daniel was raised in Clark County, WA and resided in Hockinson for the majority of his life.
Daniel attended elementary and middle school in Hockinson and graduated with honors from Prairie High School in 1985. He was an exceptional student and a talented high school athlete who played basketball, baseball, and football.
Daniel continued his education at the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) in Klamath Falls, OR, where he acquired his Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing and an Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering. He was also a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity while attending OIT.
Shortly after graduating college, Daniel married Anne Martin. They had two children, Maxwell and Mason Proudfit. Though the marriage eventually ended, Daniel's children were the center of his world. He was an amazing father and loved spending time with his boys. They loved to camp, fish, boat, and ride motorcycles. Daniel was especially supportive of his sons' sports endeavors and enjoyed their Little League games, their participation in Clark County Youth Football, and Union High School athletics where the boys played football and were on the wrestling team. One of his proudest moments was when his oldest son, Max, played football for Southern Oregon University and the team took the 2014 NAIA National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida, beating Marion (Indiana) 55-31.
Daniel made a career of surveying after graduating OIT. He was a surveyor for Hagedorn Surveying and Minister & Glaeser Surveying, but continued his career in both land and water surveying with the Army Corp of Engineers. He began his career with the Corp of Engineers in September of 2003 as a Lead Survey Technician. In 2005, he became the Chief of Survey. Daniel was instrumental in implementing new multi-beam survey technology in the district. This greatly enhanced the successful "Columbia River deepening project" from 2005 to 2010. Daniel had also served on the National Society of Professional Surveyors/The Hydrographic Society of America Hydrographer Certification Board since 2013. Daniel loved working for the Corp of Engineers and took pride in the work he did there.
Daniel met his current wife, Robin, in 2002. They found a common bond in their love for the outdoors and their love for their children. They married in Juneau, AK in January of 2006 and maintained residency in Hockinson. Daniel had recently been diagnosed with some serious health issues, but his passing was not anticipated so soon.
He was an outstanding father, a loving spouse,
a son to be proud of, a brother who was there
when you needed him, and a good friend to many.
He will be greatly missed….
