Another year has passed - this marks 10 - that Dan has been gone. Thinking of him always brings a smile - of humor, compassion, amazement, surprise, caring - and all kinds of other situations - imagining or recalling Dan.... he was a gem. I miss him

Dan and I served together in Vietnam, one of my few close and dear friends in those difficult and sometimes horrible times. We spent a lot of time talking philosophy, and I loved when he'd pull out his guitar and play some songs. We stayed in touch off and on after the war, he becoming a doctor, I becoming a lawyer. I only learned recently that he had died (I had been trying to track him down to catch up on our lives). Dan was brilliant, and in the middle of war finding an intellectual companion was a godsend. May Dan always remain alive in our hearts, and may he sail through the universe sharing his good soul with others. Fair sailing, old friend. You will never be forgotten.

Still another year has passed - the Covid year - wonder what Dr. Dan would have thought of these past months. He would undoubtedly have had some wisdom or good counsel to pass along - his affect and energy would have been appreciated, and I think he'd have had a coping tool or two to pass along. I think of him often and always with a warm fondness. He is missed.

Dan has never left my thoughts - at odd times something he said, a Karate move he showed me, a laugh we shared, a difficult patient upon who we consulted.......... a hundred memories of him, from OHSU and after. I still miss him very much. He was a fine physician, psychiatrist, husband, father but most importantly MAN. I have been blessed to know Dan and to "file away" these wonderful memories.

I think of "Dr Dan" often - usually around some piece of wisdom or thoughtfulness he passed on in his work or something he said to a colleague (or patient) and also I recall his energy. Dan was a fine man and I treasure the years I knew him and we worked together. You (Deb) and Dan made a marvelous family. I miss him often.

Deb..I'm sorry to be so late in my prayers and hugs. I stopped by CHS and Jim told me about Dan. My love to Kevin and Erin too.I was very proud to work as the RN with Dr.Beaver at Salmon Creek Adult Care. We went to UofP together but not at the same time...He always made me smile even on the worst of days. Heaven now has a great story teller and a great man.

Dan was my dear friend through high school, the Army and college. We tuned guitars together, surfed at Short Sands Beach and howled at the moon on occasion. Dan's love of life and unconditional love for his fellow man make me so, so proud to say he was my friend and brother. God Bless you And yours "Beav".

Dr. Beavers was the most caring, dedicated, helpful, and loving person I've ever met. I never had anyone in my life care as much as he did. I miss his smile, laughter, encouragement, tough love (there was a lot), and stories. I lost a baby 2 weeks after Dr Beavers passed away - the only comfort I have right now is the thought of my baby being around him. The world lost a wonderful man.

Dearest Debbie, Kevin, and Erin,
The older I get I am more aware that love of fellow human beings is the greatest attribute; Dan embodied that value more than any professional I've known. To give an example, an "older" woman arrived in our office with bowel incontinence. Dan himself, rather than delegating to a nurse, readily helped her regain her dignity.
He also spoke into my life at a difficult time, then helped me deal with my brother's illness.
He was a person who reflected oneself as God loves him or her; I valued him so greatly, and he was truly a gentleman of the highest integrity...someone whom we can never forget.
I worked with him (as an RN) at Columbia Family Physicians and heard frequent stories about love for his family. This community has lost a wise and kind soul whose life all of us pray to emulate; may the Lord give you good rest, Dan. "Well done, good and faithful servant".
May comfort, strength, and hope envelope your lives in the days of missing your beloved...may God walk with you and bless you. With my deepest sympathy~~~

Dan and I grew up across the street from each other. We played Little League together and I have put a picture of him from that spring in 1961. He always had a great sense of humor. The first time we met I still remember his voice asking if the 'big fella could come out to play.' He was five, I was six. He was a great guy, but a lousy outfielder. Thus, medicine was a wise choice to the benefit of many.

I never met Dr. Beavers but he helped my brother Bob through a period in his life when everything seemed utterly hopeless. Bob often spoke of his boundless compassion, understanding and kindness and I know that the lives of everyone he knew were enriched by their association. My deepest gratitude and most sincere condolences.

My heart and prayers are with Dr. Beavers' family and friends. He has touched so many people in the most positive ways. As a nurse, I had the privilage to work with him during his Family Practice rounds, Gerontology / Nursing Home Practice, Salmon Creek Adult Care and as a great friend and collegue. You always new when he entered the building cause the laughter began before you ever spoke with him. He was a "one of a kind" doctor that truely cared for his patients. He loved to share family stories and things happening at home on the farm. Debbie, you were blessed to have met such a wonderful person, keep practicing "driving the tractor" as that was one of his many wonderful stories he shared. You can't help but know that god is listening to such stories as he is given the golden path into heaven. He will always be remembered as the goofy doctor, telling jokes and making people feel happy and leaving them with laughter and joy. Heaven has been given this gift for eternity. You really did make a difference in the world Dr. Beavers, I am blessed to have been a part of it.

I had the privilege of knowing Dr. Beavers through the Lifeline Connections' co-occurring program. Although it was a very challenging period for me as a parent, I will never forget the kindness, compassion and hope that Dr. Beavers extended to our family. He was, quite simply, a shining light in the midst of a dark time, and I will be forever grateful to him.

Debbie and family. Dan literally saved my life. I met him three years ago at the most difficult time of my life; I truly do not know what my fate would have been if I had not. As a medical practitioner myself for the past 30 years, we shared so many rich experiences and hours of delightful conversation. I will miss him so much.
God Bless,

Growing up, Danny was a wonderful friend of my brother Bob. They went to school together and both went into the army during the Viet Nam conflict. Danny wrote to my folks and came over to the house to visit after his tour of duty, while my brother was still in the Army. His laughter was contagious, his kindness during the unexpected loss of our father was a blessing. He brightened our lives and continues to be fondly remembered.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

We were introduced to Dan by our son who is a musician. Dan loved music and was studying guitar. His accomplishments in martial arts, woodworking, medicine, music (and more) were amazing, but more importantly was his ability to love and be a friend to so many.

I echo Julie - I worked with Dan way back in the early 80s when he was a Psychiatry Resident at OHSU. I met you, Debbie, a few times in years thereafter..... you always had a most wonderful family. Dan was the best. A kinder person, more compassionate, understanding and listening I haven't known. I'm sorry I didn't keep in better touch with Dan as he made a big impression on me years ago.
My condolences

I had the pleasure of not only working with Your husband and father helping patients get through hard times in their lives. My husband and I also got to experience some rounds of golf with him. What I remember about him most is his zest for life and love of family. Know you all were well loved and your adventures and achievements were shared with me on every visit. I loved hearing that voice come through the doors. I always had to say SHHHHHH because he had a booming arrival as he entered the building. I know he is in heaven bringing joy the friends and family who have gone before him telling them all about you. Good Bye friend. Julie Beasley LPN
