CLARA E. (HUBER) BURNS
May 14, 1922 ~ April 7, 2011
Clara's journey ended on Thurs., April 7, 2011, with her family at her side. She was born on May 14, 1922, to Henry and Sarah Huber in Vancouver, WA. Clara was a lifelong resident of Vancouver, being raised on her family farm on Lower River Road. She graduated from Vancouver High in 1940 where she met and married the love of her life, Bob Burns in 1942.
Clara enjoyed trips to the beach, the Portland Trailblazers, the Seattle Mariners, bowling, long drives, gardening and Buster Bars at DQ, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family - especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was known for her quick wit, laughter and joy of life.
Throughout her life she gathered many lifelong friends that she loved very much. Clara had such a strong inner strength that will continue to amaze us all.
We wish to offer a special thank you to all the Angels who touched Clara's life with their love, respect and compassion at Clearwater Springs, A Home with Hope and the Ray Hickey Hospice House. They were all a blessing.
Clara is survived by daughters, Sharie Harter (Ron) of Vancouver, WA and Robin Douglass (Larry) of Carson, WA; grandchildren, Lori Wood (Jason), Jason Douglass (Staci), Ryan Douglass (Rani), and Lindsey Klein (Patrick); great-grandchildren, Karl Bell, Kameron Douglass, RyAnn Douglass, Jacob Wood, Jaci Douglass, Kennedy Klein; and an unborn grandson due in August.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her wonderful husband, Bob Burns; daughter, Sue Nelson and unborn child; sister, Helen Gehring and brother, John Huber.
A memorial service will be held on Tue., April 12, 2011, at 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held on Mon., April 11th, from noon to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Ray Hickey Hospice House or Humane Society.

Hi guys, I was just returning from Tokyo when I heard from my sister, Donna about your Mom heading to Heaven! SHE MADE IT!!! Praise God! Our brief times together at Ray Hickey Hospice were wonderful and soothing. The hallway chats, the prayers, the hugs were a sweet experience even as we watched our loved ones Plan their Exit. Truly they are havin' a blast even as we ache and miss them. You know.....they just Changed Addresses! It was pretty cool how our lives reconnected that week. Donna and I send our love and unite in celebrating a very amazing, gorgeous, spunky woman. I am confident we will all chat in Glory, and share in the Greatness of our God, who is, by the way, lavishing your Mom with such love and surprises even at this very minute!

I knew Susan in grade school (Lincoln), while there Clara was my Blue Bird teacher. She was always so very kind, patient and a generally sweet lady. My mother used to bowl with Clara...such wonderful memories. My deepest condolences to the whole family.

Robin and Shari...I am so sorry to hear about your beloved Mother. Nancy just called to tell me about her death as Woody had sent her a note to have her let me know. I think of you girls so often and will pray for peace and comfort for you . Seems like it was just yesterday that we were neighbors. Time goes too fast. Love, Hugs, Prayers, and Thoughts to you, Judy, Nancy, and Sally
