CHARLES "CHUCK" V. HOLDEN
August 1, 1925 ~ August 18, 2015
Charles "Chuck" V. Holden, 90, of Vancouver, WA, passed away Aug. 18, 2015 at his home. He was born Aug. 1, 1925 in Ladysmith, WI to Vernon and Aneta Holden. At the age of 2, his family moved to Vancouver, WA.
During WWII, he joined the Army to serve his country.
In 1963, Chuck married Cecile, who would be his partner in life for 52 years.
He was the owner of Home T.V. and Appliance for many years.
Over the years, Chuck belonged to many organizations. He was a long time member of BPOE (Elks) #823, the American Legion Post #14, The Foresters, and several ballroom dance groups. He was a wonderful dancer and the ladies loved to take their turn as his partner in a dance. Besides dancing, Chuck also enjoyed woodworking. He particularly liked making toys for children.
Everyone who knew Chuck, knew him as a reliable and stand-up guy. He took things as they came; he took things in stride. He was totally honest. His word was his bond. He had no pretensions. He was, in the best sense, a regular guy. He was always willing to help. He had a strong sense of right and wrong but was not judgmental. Chuck was a straight shooter. He was a loving and caring husband.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Cecile; daughters, Linda Padberg, Bonnie Holden, and Debra Hanson; step-children, Robert J. Youngs, Bradley Youngs, and Susan Taylor; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patti Holden.
A memorial service for Chuck will be 1:00p.m., Fri., Aug. 28th at the Vancouver Funeral Chapel.
