CHARLES "CHUCK" MILLER
October 29, 1945 ~ February 23, 2015
Charles "Chuck" Miller died peacefully at home on February 23, 2015. He was born on October 29, 1945, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Harvey H. Miller and Adaline E. (Petteys) Miller. The family moved to Oregon and he graduated from Gresham Union High School in 1964.
He enlisted in the Oregon National Guard in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1971. In 1969, he began working for BNSF Railroad and worked there until his retirement in 2007. Chuck was active and retirement didn't suit him, so in 2008, he began working part-time for Blue Star Shuttle where he remained until 2014.
Chuck was incredibly social and loved to tease his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and everyone else he came across. He loved to study maps and ride motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Karen (Lenke) and his beloved dog, Lulu, at home; his children, John Miller (Cathy), Mary Miller, Laurie Banks (Carl), all of Vancouver, WA; Erin Moon (Steve) of Longview, WA; and stepchildren Tracy McCall (Jim) of Vancouver, WA, and Trent Schroder of Klickitat, WA.
He loved his grandchildren tremendously: Brandon and Nitauna Miller; Kiaya Baumer, Avery and Jordan Moon; Maura and Molly Banks; Briana McCall (Jake Casey) and Jeremy McCall.
Chuck is survived by his brother, Dean Miller; and sister, Carol Blaylock of Medford, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother Jerry Miller and sister Cheryl Passmore. He is survived by many in-laws and nieces and nephews as well.
Chuck and Karen lived in Vancouver, Washington for over 20 years and relocated to The Dalles, Oregon, in the fall of 2014. A memorial will be held at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Home at Last Humane Society in The Dalles, OR, or Heart of Hospice in Hood River, OR.
