"Catherine was a life-long learner
and a teacher for most of her 93 years."

Catherine Waller was the eldest of Maurice and Piccola Hathaway's six children and never wavered in her loyalty for her immediate and extended family.
Catherine grew up in Glenwood, WA and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1941 from Linfield College in McMinnville, OR on a Montgomery Ward's scholarship.
She taught high school in eastern Oregon during the war years and married Melvin E. Waller when he returned from the Pacific. They settled in Sunnyside, WA.
Catherine built a successful retail poultry business specializing in domestic geese. She was president of her children's school PTA and leader of a 4-H club.
In 1963, she returned to teaching junior English at Sunnyside High School until she retired in 1984.
Catherine moved to Vancouver, WA in 1986 and became an avid member of the local American Volksport Association. For the next 20 years she walked in every state, all of the state capitals, many European countries, Australia and New Zealand.
Catherine is survived by her brother, Ray Hathaway (Martha) of Glenwood, WA; daughters, Mary Strebig (Jim) of Benicia, CA, Cola Crouse (Wayne) of Bernice, OK and Park Jeung Ae of Toronto, Canada: 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and their children.
