ALLAN WAYNE NUNAMAKER
April 24, 1949 ~ July 10, 2017

Allan Wayne Nunamaker, 68, of Vancouver, WA, passed away July 10, 2017. He was born in Oregon City, OR on April 24, 1949 to Charles Henry and Kathryn Louise Nunamker. He was a descendent of the prominent Rose family, early pioneers of eastern Oregon and Washington.
Allan served as a Marine for 4 years: he was part of a special recon unit in Vietnam calling in artillery from the USS New Jersey, and Marine detail at the White House for President Nixon, and other duties. He had a 30-year career with UA Union Local 290 Steamfitters as a journeyman and supervisor for such companies as J.H. Kelley and Interstate Mechanical on such projects as the new Bonneville lock of which he and one other 290 brother installed all the mechanical parts for lock doors; also, Trojan, Hanford, Alaska Pipeline, Nike cleanroom and the Hilton restoration.
Allan was an avid fisherman and hunter. He had a green thumb, especially good at growing garlic.
Allan is survived by his wife, Sally, of 28 years; three children; three step-children; five grandchildren; two sisters; one brother; one sister-in-law; one niece and numerous nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and one stepson.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Wed., Aug. 9 at 1p.m. at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR. (Please no flowers.)
