ALISA BAIRD (RASMUSSEN) VAIL
September 1, 1974 ~ June 23, 2016
There are rare and special individuals in this world who transcend the roles they live - mother, wife, daughter, grand-daughter, niece, cousin, teacher, friend. One of those was Alisa Baird Rasmussen Vail, who passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016. At age 41, cancer stole her from us far too soon, but her vibrant personality, abundant generosity, infectious laughter and boundless depths of love have left an indelible legacy.
Alisa was born in Vancouver, WA on September 1, 1974, the second daughter of Laurie (Lightheart) and Victor Rasmussen. After graduating from Camas High School in 1992, she received a degree in human development and elementary education from Warner Pacific College and master's in education from Washington State University Vancouver.
After being friends for many years, Alisa began dating the love of her life, Andy, in the summer of 2004; the couple wed the following year. They took the utmost pride in raising their two daughters, Annabelle (17) and Abrielle (Abbie, 8).
Alisa had spent the past 17 years employed by the Washougal School District, at Hathaway Elementary and Gause Elementary respectively.
Alisa is survived by husband Andy; daughters Annabelle and Abrielle; parents Laurie and Victor Rasmussen; sister Amée Rasmussen; grandfather Paul Dailey,;in-laws Karen and Gary Vail; niece Hailey Vail and numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grand-parents Shirley Lightheart Dailey, Allen Lightheart, Anna Rasmussen and Harry Rasmussen.
A celebration of life open-house service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Pearson Air Museum. The family invites guests to write down a favorite memory about Alisa and bring it to the service. The collected notes will be shared with the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at any branch of iQ Credit Union to the Alisa Vail Memorial fund.

To the Vail Family:
Our son, Evan Wilsey, had Mrs Vail for a short time this past school year in 1st grade. Even the little time he had her as a teacher, she left a special place in his heart. He talks about her often and we will remember you always. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

My thoughts and prayers goes out to Andy and family. I did not know your wife, but heard many of stories. You and your wife gave me the biggest gift when you double dated with my son Dennis and his now wife Mandi. I feel very blessed to have a granddaughter from that date. Thank you for the gift, you never know who you touch in this world. My God blessed your family and continue to guide you through your grieving.

Alisa was in my youth group growing up and she was also my daughter's 5th grade teacher. She was an amazing person. So kind and loving to everyone. Always made everyone laugh. My heart aches for her family and her babies. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Say hi to Jesus for me Alisa, have fun flying with the other angels and don't forget to stop in and say hi every so often.
