AGNES LUCILLE ALEXANDER
December 6, 1917 ~ January 4, 2015
Agnes was born in Hinton, Iowa and grew up on her family's farm. She came to Vancouver at age 19 after spending the summer serving at Grand Lake Lodge in the Rocky Mt. National Park, Colorado. She married Charles W. Alexander, March 9, 1937. They were together 57 years before he passed on October 2, 1994.
In 1936 Agnes became the soprano soloist at the First Congregational Church. She sang until age 89. During her 79 year membership she served in all leadership roles at her church including the "Kitchen Lady." She cooked and baked delicious meals at home and church. Agnes and Charlie were longtime youth leaders and Agnes added youth group/camp grandma as her last role in church.
Agnes was an active leader in local and state level PTA. Agnes and Charlie were very active in local musical theater, co-founding The Peanut Gallery Theater Co. Agnes also led costume design and was an accomplished seamstress. She was a charter member of Brahms/Vancouver USA Singers joining many tours in Europe and Canada.
Nothing was more important to her than family. Agnes is survived by her children: David C. Alexander (Carole), Wriston R. Alexander (Vicki) and Ann Lynn Laskey (Jim); seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Her memorial service will be held at The Portland First Congregational United Church of Christ on Sat., January 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial gifts to the Vancouver or Portland First Congregational U. C.C. are welcomed.

AS a young girl I grew up across the street from the Alexander's. I have great memories of the family. My thoughts and prayers go out to to all, especially Annie.
