Robert E. "Bob" Constans

October 22, 1920 ~ October 17, 2013

Robert Constans, 92, passed away peacefully on Oct. 17, 2013 in Vancouver, WA, just days before his birthday. He was born on Oct. 22, 1920 in Grand Forks, ND, and spent his childhood in Portland, Longview and Rainier, Seattle, and Grand Forks.
After serving in the Army prior to and during World War II, Bob spent his career as a cartographic engineer with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and Clark County.
Bob enjoyed playing golf with his friends, traveling with his wife, reading, and spending time with his family.
After he retired, he and Virginia engaged in volunteer work, ranging from Meals on Wheels to helping young children with reading in local schools.
Bob is survived by his sister, Patricia; brother, Henri (Shirley) of Portland, OR; his three sons, Steve (Linda) of Clatskanie, OR, Paul (Pam) of Ft. Scott, KS, and Matt (Coral) of Washougal, WA; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, in 2002; and his parents, Frank and Frances Constans.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Vancouver, WA at 10 a.m. on Fri., Oct. 25. Interment will be held at 10 a.m., Mon., Oct. 28, at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, OR.
The family offers a special thanks to the people at Cascade Inn and Cristina's Adult Care Home for the care they provided him in his final years.
