Robert "Bob" Axlund

February 9, 1927 ~May 9, 2014

Robert Axlund, 87, of Vancouver, Washington, was born in Bellingham, Washington.
He graduated from Chehalis High School in 1944 and joined the Navy where he served until Oct 1949.
He was hired by the Vancouver Police Department on January 1, 1950. He met Marilyn two weeks later and they were married on April 2, 1950. In May of 1956 he joined the Clark County Juvenile Dept. and retired 25 years later as the director of the dept.
Bob was very active with the American Legion Post 49 and Voiture 99 40 et 8 in Vancouver. He was also active in the community and served on many committees including the start up of the 4th of July activities in Vancouver.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn; son Michael (wife Sharon), son Patrick (wife Trina "Babe"); three grandsons Erin, Ryan and Levi and six great-grandchildren.
There will be an informal gathering on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. in the Box Car Room at the 40 et 8 Chateau, 7606 NE 26th Ave. Vancouver, WA. (Next to the bingo parlor on 76th St.)
