November 10, 1937 ~ January 26, 2013

Paul S. Whipple, Jr. died unexpectedly at his home of heart failure on Jan. 26, 2013.
Paul was born in Columbus, OH to Paul and Helen Whipple. The family made Ashland, OH their lifelong home. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1955, then earned a BS in Metallurgical Eng. from The Ohio State University in 1960.
Paul married Anna L. Wilkinson of Patalaska, OH on Oct. 23, 1960.
He worked several years for Westinghouse Corp. and in the Steel Industry in Gary, IN before settling into various managerial positions with Union Carbide Corp. Crystal Products Div. His work led the family from East Chicago, IN to San Diego, CA, to Vancouver, WA. Paul oversaw the construction and then managed the Crystal Products Plant at Washougal, WA for 20 years until his retirement in 1998.
In retirement, Paul busied himself with volunteering as a tutor for Mrs. Grovum's classes at WA Elementary School, tutoring at Open House Ministries, and volunteering for the WHO.
He was a skillful bridge player, was a fair weather golfer, enjoyed entertaining and dining with friends. He even took up ballroom dancing. He loved tending his flowerbeds and he and Anna traveled extensively.
Most of all he cherished and enjoyed time his family who will miss him greatly: Anna, his spouse of 52 years; children, Kimberly Whipple (Ed Riehl), Jodi (Shane) Forsell, and Bryan Paul (Tracy); grandchildren, Megan, Brianna, Stefan, and Jonathan Forsell, Anna-Louise and Amelia-Rose Riehl, and Rachel and Emily Whipple; brothers, William (Lela) and Gary; sisters, Phyllis (Ed) Becker and Bonnie (deceased) (Dave: deceased) Mumaw.
A celebration of a life well lived will be held on Sat., Feb. 2, 1:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 401 E. 33rd. St., Vancouver, WA 98663.
