Dorothy Holloway Obituary


DOROTHY SYMES HOLLOWAY
1925 ~ 2012

Dorothy was born in Duluth, MN to Harry and Glenna McIntyre Symes on April 23, 1925 and died Jan. 18, 2012 in Vancouver, WA. She and her family moved to Portland, OR in 1935 where she attended Alameda Grade School and graduated from Grant High School after which she attended Willamette University and was a founding member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority chapter there.
She then worked in the public office for Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company for 10 years.
In 1954, Dorothy was married to Robert Holloway at Westminister Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was later a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church.
Among her many interests in addition to singing, were travel, going to the Oregon beach with friends and family, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
One of the things that she will be especially
remembered for was her love of writing newsy letters.
Dorothy is survived by her husband; son, Robert Curtis "Curt" Jr. (Kathy); her daughter, Glenna Sequeira (Jim); and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church on Sat., Feb. 25, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church, 5441 S.E. Belmont St., Portland, OR 97215, Providence Child Center Foundation, 830 N.E. 47th Ave., Portland, OR 97213, The Beverly and Travis Cross Guest House at Providence St. Vincent Foundation, 9205 S.W. Barnes Rd., Suite 2111, Portland, OR 97225 or charity of your choice.
Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Funeral Home are entrusted with arrangements.
