Donald LeRoy Kelland

September 21, 1925 - June 23, 2013

Donald LeRoy Kelland of Woodland, Washington passed away June 23, 2013 following a stroke. Don was born September 21, 1925 in Oregon City and was the youngest of five children born to Thomas and Bertha Bullard Kelland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Robbins Kelland; his sisters, Ruth Herrin, Lorene Wimmer, Ophelia Hall Ledbetter and brother Tom Kelland.
He is survived by step-son, Douglas Ruge (Lori) of Vancouver; nephews, Tom Hall (Cheryl) of Los Angeles, Tom Kelland, Jr. and David Wimmer (Marcia); nieces, Kathy Mashek (Rick), all of Oregon City, Laurie Gallagher (Joe) of Phoenix; and many great-nephews and nieces.
Don attended public schools in Oregon City and he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon separation from the military, he worked on various local rivers for 37 years before retiring. In 1961, Don moved to Woodland where he contracted a log boom on the Lewis River for 22 years, retiring in 1983. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting and trap shooting and was a long-time member of the Oregon City Elks, Canby Rod and Gun Club and Vancouver Trap Club.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Woodland Presbyterian Church in Woodland, WA where he was a longtime member. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be in the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City.
