David R. Spanier

April 16, 1933 ~ December 19, 2013

David R. Spanier, 80, of Vancouver, WA, left our company Dec. 19, 2013 after succumbing to illness. He was born on April 16, 1933 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Joseph and Adele Spanier and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1953.
David served in the Marine Corps from 1955 to 1957.
He became a Northern California sales distributor for Gallo Brothers in 1962 and moved on to Seagram and Sons in 1968, where he became an executive vice president before retiring with their Northwest division of Perennial Sales in 1992.
David was known for his timely wit and humor and love of sports. He golfed avidly as a member of Orchard Hills Golf Club in Camas, WA and was an ardent fan of baseball, boxing and horse racing. He was also a regular spectator at Vancouver City League men's softball games as well as tournaments throughout Washington.
David is survived by daughters, Barbara Aguilar, San Dimas, CA and Suzanne Spanier, Vancouver; sons, David J. Spanier, Vancouver and Michael Spanier, Bellingham, WA; one sister, JoAnn Ames, Vancouver; six grandchildren; and 10 nieces and nephews.
A life-long Catholic, David was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Vancouver, WA for over 20 years, where a Rosary service will be conducted on Thurs., Dec. 26th at 7:00 p.m. and a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. on Fri., Dec. 27th. A Celebration of Life will commence at 12:30 p.m. at the Vancouver Elks Lodge.
