October 28, 1925 ~ April 8, 2014
David J. Bauman, 88, of Vancouver, WA, was called by his Lord and Savior April 8, 2014, at Ray Hickey Hospice House. He was born Oct. 28, 1925 in Vancouver, the son of Charles F. and Clara Bracher Bauman. David was raised on a small farm in the Salmon Creek area where he attended Salmon Creek grade school, Shumway Junior High, and graduated with the class of 1943 from Vancouver High School.
David attended a small junior college, spent one year at Linfield College in McMinnville and then transferred to the University of Washington in Seattle, where he graduated with his B.A. in 1947.
On June 26, 1948, David married the love of his life, Lois Read, in Seattle, WA.
He worked as a meteorological hydrologist for NOAA, retiring in 1980.
David was a member of many organizations including: NARFE, the Gideons, and the American Meteorlogical Society where he was a past president. He did much work with two Norwegian organizations: Sons of Norway and Totenlag where he was also a past president.
David is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Janet (Dennis) Phillips, Allen (Leslie) Bauman and Mark (Reagan) Bauman; and grandchildren, Will Phillips, Jennie Phillips, Allison Phillips, Ian Phillips, Laura Bauman and Charlie Bauman.
A memorial service for David will be held Sat., May 3, 2014, 1:30 p.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church, 905 NW 94th St., Vancouver, WA 98665. Interment took place privately at Northwood Park Cemetery.

We were sad to hear of Dave's passing. It was always a pleasure to chat with him at various events we met at including LePhare, church events, and more. May you find peace with God's help and comfort in all those wonderful memories!
