February 16, 1940 ~ November 2, 2013
Claudia Ott, age 73, of Ridgefield, WA, passed away at home with her husband Melvin Ott by her side Nov. 2, 2013. She was born Feb. 16, 1940, to the late Grant and Lela Turnbow. She grew up in Oregon City, OR, graduated from Oregon City High School, and attended the University of Oregon.
Claudia married Melvin Ott in 1962. They lived in Portland, OR for 10 years, before they relocated to Vancouver, WA, and later moved to Ridgefield, WA.
Claudia was a teenage lifeguard and avid swimmer throughout most of her life. She was an ardent reader - there was never a book far from her side. Her Bible study group was a very important part of her life. She was a proud homemaker and mother. Family was always most important to her. Being with her four granddaughters was always a delight.
Claudia is survived by her husband of 51 years, Mel Ott; her two children, Francine Staczek of Portland, OR and Jeremy Ott of Laguna Beach, CA; her four grandchildren, Fiona and Ruby Staczek and Hailey and Jayna Ott; and her sister, Loretta Crussell of Vancouver, WA.
The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m., Sat., Nov. 9th at Messiah Lutheran Church, 905 NW 94th St., Vancouver, WA, 98665.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to either the National Breast Cancer Foundation or Messiah Lutheran Church.

Mel - I didn't know Claudia well, meeting her only a few times. She must have been a grand lady, otherwise she wouldn't have staid with you for 51 years. In all seriousness, I'm truly sorry for your loss. You are a good friend and I have always cherished that. Not to mention, the best realstate agent I have ever known. Hang in there my friend. My prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sorry to learn of this. Claudia was a lovely woman, a charming hostess and a bright light for Christ. She served our community in many ways and always her love for God and her study of His word was paramount. May your memories of her bring you comfort and may God bless you with peace.
