Claude E. Jordan of Vancouver, WA, passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2013 at the age of 96 years, after a brief battle with skin cancer. He was the son of Louis and Lilli Jordan, who died many years ago. There were seven siblings: four brothers, Mac, Jimmy (deceased), J William and Ray; and two sisters, Edna (deceased) and Golda. Although Claude was born in Kansas, the family moved to Toppenish, WA where he graduated from Toppenish High in 1935.
He was a WWII veteran, serving honorably with the U.S. Army, discharged in 1945.
Claude was employed in many positions; he was retired from McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach, CA as an inspector and later moved to Salina, KS where he retired from the Salina School District. Regardless of his full time work, he always had side businesses of lawn care for his employers, family and friends, as well as voluntary carpentry jobs.
Claude was a member of the American Legion in Salina, KS and the Elks Club in Long Beach, CA, as well as in Hazel Dell/Battle Ground, WA.
A widower for many years, Claude is survived by his loving companion, Bobbie Hansen; children, Barbara Wilson, Robert and Linda Ahern; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A Celebration of Life will be on Sun., May 5, 2013 at Nomad Mobile Park's clubhouse, 10505 NE 53rd Ave., Vancouver, WA at 2:00 p.m.
