CLAIR AULD SCHWARTZ
April 8, 1926 ~ November 22, 2013

Our mother, Clair Auld Schwartz, resident of CherryWood Village in Portland, OR, died on Fri., Nov. 22, 2013, from pancreatic cancer. Our family feels blessed to have had the opportunity to talk and reminisce with her before she passed. Clair was born on April 8, 1926 in Spokane, WA to Bernice and W.D. "Dave" Auld. She was the sister of three brothers, Dave, Dan and Bruce Auld. Clair graduated from Ridgefield High School (Ridgefield, WA) in 1943 and later graduated from Washington State University with a B.A. in Speech and Drama.
She taught high school English for 18 years, mostly in Pasadena, CA.
Clair married Barton M. Schwartz, a professor of anthropology, in 1954. They were married for 52 years. She and Bart lived in California, Washington, New York, Pennsylvania, The Netherlands, Germany, and moved to Maui, HI, where they made their home for 30 years.
Clair is survived by two daughters, Lynn Schwartz of Annapolis, Maryland and Robyn Schwartz Beisell of Portland, Oregon. She has three grandchildren, Patrick and Taylor Beisell and Isobel Schwartz.
At her request, no service is planned. A family memorial gathering will take place at a later date.
