ARTHUR F. MOORE
September 12, 1921 ~ March 16, 2014
Arthur F. Moore, 92, husband of Dolores J. Moore of Vancouver, WA, passed away on March 16, 2014. He was born on September 12, 1921 in Somers, Montana to Oscar and Lillian (Hanscom) Moore.
Art graduated from Flathead High School in 1940. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corp. from August 1942 to December 1945, assigned to a hospital train. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star, as well as other medals.
After discharge, he accepted employment in Colfax, WA, where he met and married Dolores Stark on July 7, 1945. A short time afterwards, they relocated to western Oregon where he remained employed in the lumber and plywood industry until 1981 when he retired.
A resident of Vancouver for the past 29 years, he is survived by his wife; sons, Donald (Joanne) and Byron (Susan) of Vancouver, Steven of Bellingham, WA, and Wade (Barbara) of Aloha, OR; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister of Madras, OR.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Chapel, 1101 NE 112th Avenue, Vancouver. Private graveside services with military honors to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Art's memory may be made to the Mill Plain United Methodist Church, 15804 SE Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98684.

So sorry for your loss Aunt Delores and cousins. He was a man of principle and though difficult to understand when I was a child, I came to respect his position and point of view when I had some adult experiences that put in the the same boat of life as he. He was of the greatest generation, those who gave there best in defense of country when in its darkest hour.
